Scouting Report

Ever wanted to submit a player for the AFL? Well now you can! This is a breakdown on what exactly you will need to do to submit a player than could potentially be the future of the AFL!

Name:

The player's name. Pretty self explanatory. This can be subject to change based on my judgement.

Position:

The player's preferred position. Once again, this can be subject to change based on my judgement.

Preferred Number:

The player's preferred number. The AFL does not have strict rules on what numbers positions have to be, so any number between 00-99 is fair game for most positions. Obviously, this can be subject to change based on my judgement.

Hometown:

The hometown of the player you are submitting. Please keep these locations to the U.S. and Canada for now. Because the AFL wants to market itself as a national league, submitting players just within the AFL's region of the Midwest is not required. Don't stress too much over where your player is from, I can fill this in to be consistent with other players submitted. When submitting, please submit in the format of  "City, ST" or "City, PR".

College Option:

While not required to submit your player, you can choose what type of college your player went to. College football is governed by the American Association of Collegiate Athletics (AACA), and is slightly different from college football that we know. The AACA college landscape is currently made up of over 200 colleges (and growing! My creativity knows no bounds. If you have an idea for a college just DM me and we can collaborate) amongst the Upper and Lower Divisions. The AACA Upper Division is most like Division 1 football, while the Lower Division is most like Division 2 or Division 3. These options have no affect on how well your player will do, more so where they will be drafted. The options are as follows:

  • Local Lower Division: The player will be placed at the closest Lower Division college to the hometown chosen. More likely to be a late round selection or undrafted.
  • Lower Division Power: The player will be placed at the closest Lower Division college that is considered a "power". Same draft position as the Local Lower Division, but is more likely to go higher than the late rounds
  • Local Upper Division: The player will be placed at the closest Upper Division college to the hometown chosen. Draft position will vary based on wherever they were placed.
  • Conference Power: The player will be placed at a college that is considered a conference power within that player's region. For example, if your player is from Chicago, then they would be placed at a college in the Midwest that best suits their personality/playstyle. Draft position can vary, but is more likely to be taken in the earlier rounds.
  • National Power: The player will be placed at a perennial national title contender that best suits their personality/playstyle. More likely to get drafted higher over other players regardless of overall.

Personality:

The player's personality, either off the field, on the field, or both. If you want to give your player a backstory, give it to them here.

Playstyle:

The player's playstyle and how they play on the field. The best way to give your play a playstyle is to give 1-2 strengths and at least 1 weakness (because no player is ever perfect). The first strength given usually is how I determine their player archetype. If you can't think of anything, giving a player comparison (either from the AFL world or the NFL) is a good starting point.

Let me know if you have any questions. The scouting report is linked on the title page for the AFL, but it will also be here for convenience.
